Hygiene

Our qualified dental hygiene staff are here to answer any questions you may have, service you, and make your visit as pleasant as possible. Normally, during a hygiene visit, you will have x-rays taken so we can get an accurate assessment of what is needed to be done.  All of our xrays are digital which means for you and the environment.

What to expect:
  • Removal of tartar and plaque
  • Advice given on how to handle those difficult to clean areas
  • Polishing of the tooth enamel
  • Flossing
  • Fluoride treatment (optional) which helps to prevent cavities

Sometimes with extra tartar or if it has been a while since you had a cleaning, the cleaning might be slightly uncomfortable. This is not common, however, if this occurs, just let your hygienist know and she can apply a bit of topical anesthetic to your mouth to make it more comfortable.
Hygiene treatment should be done every 3-6 months.
After every hygeine treatment, you will given a new toothbrush and floss so that you can keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape at home.
